Project financials

Set hourly rates and pricing types for a project, then track budget utilization, billable hours, and payment status from the project's Overview tab.

Project financials give you a live picture of where a project stands money-wise: what’s been budgeted, what’s been billed, and what’s been paid. You configure rates here, and everything flows automatically as time is logged and invoices are created and paid.

Creating pricing types

Pricing Types let you define named rate categories within a project, for example Senior Dev @ $100/hr or Design @ $75/hr. When someone logs time, they can select the appropriate Pricing Type and the correct rate is applied automatically, making your invoices and reports more precise.

  1. On the project, find the Pricing Types section at the top.
  2. Click Add Pricing Type.
  3. Give the type a name (e.g. Senior Developer) and set its hourly rate.
  4. Click Save.

Repeat for as many rate categories as your project needs. Pricing Types are specific to this project, and they don’t carry over to other projects automatically.

Viewing financial summaries

The Overview tab surfaces three core financial figures:

  • Budget utilization: how much of the project’s budget has been consumed by invoices generated so far, shown as a dollar amount and percentage.
  • Billable hours: the total hours logged as billable on this project, broken out by Pricing Type where applicable.
  • Paid vs. pending: a split between invoices that have been marked as paid and those still outstanding.

Generating invoices from time entries

Once billable time is logged, you can pull it directly into an invoice without re-entering anything. See creating an invoice for the full invoicing workflow, and auto-generating invoices if you want to let FeatureFlight build the line items for you.
