Getting paid: online and manual payments
Accept payments through a Stripe-powered Pay Now link, or record check, wire, and cash payments manually. Either way the invoice status and balance update automatically.
FeatureFlight tracks payments two ways: clients can pay online through a Pay Now link, or you can record payments that arrived by check, wire, or any other method. Both keep the invoice’s Paid Amount, Balance Due, and status accurate, and log every payment in the activity history.
Online payments (Stripe)
When you send an invoice, the email includes a Pay Now link. The client clicks it, pays on a Stripe-hosted page, and:
- The status updates to Paid online (or Partial if they pay less than the full balance).
- Paid Amount and Balance Due update immediately.
- The payment is logged in Activity History with a timestamp.
No manual entry is needed, and the whole flow is automatic. For the client’s side, see paying an invoice.
Recording a payment manually
When a client pays outside the Pay Now link:
- Open the invoice and click Mark as Paid.
- For a full payment, choose the Payment Method; for a partial one, enter the Amount first.
- Optionally add a Note (e.g. “Check #1042 received 2026-05-15”).
- Click Confirm. A full payment moves the invoice to Paid; a partial one moves it to Partial and updates the balance.
You can record multiple payments over time. Each is logged separately, and the invoice flips to Paid automatically once the balance reaches zero.
Payment methods: Cash, Check, Credit/Debit Card, ACH, Wire, Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Crypto, Money Order, Cashier’s Check, Other.
