Setting up your workspace

The recommended first steps to get your FeatureFlight workspace up and running, with links to each detailed guide.

You’ve created your FeatureFlight account. Now what? This checklist walks you through the five most important first steps in the right order. Each one links to the full guide so you can go as deep as you need.

Work through these steps roughly in sequence. Later steps build on earlier ones.

1. Add your first client

Most work in FeatureFlight is organized around clients. Adding a client first means you can attach it to a project, track time against it, and send invoices to the right place from day one.

Go to Client Center in the main navigation and add your first client.

2. Create your first project

A project is the container for everything related to a piece of work: tasks, time, invoices, and team. Once your client exists, create a project and attach it to that client.

Go to Projects and click Create Project.

See creating a project for the full walkthrough, including how to set a budget, dates, and (on Pro) let AI scaffold the project from a description.

3. Add a taskboard

With a project in place, add a taskboard to start tracking the actual work. A taskboard organizes tasks into columns (like To Do, In Progress, and Done) and can be shared with the whole team.

From inside your new project, go to the Taskboards tab and create your first board. Or link an existing board if you already have one set up.

See creating a taskboard for the full walkthrough, including how to set up columns and WIP limits.

4. Log some time

Once a project and board exist, you can start logging time against them. Time entries are the foundation of billing, and they feed directly into invoices.

Go to Time Logging in the main navigation to log your first entry or log it directly on the task under the Time Tracking tab.

See logging time for the full walkthrough, including billable vs. internal entries and pricing types.

5. Invite your team

With your workspace taking shape, bring in the people who’ll be working in it. You’ll assign them roles (Admin, Manager, Member, or Guest) that control what they can see and do.

Go to Settings → Subscription or the Admin Panel to send invitations.
